"Rich Harden was placed on the disabled list Friday with a strained back that is expected to keep him out three to six weeks. The A's think the injury occurred Thursday when Harden jumped in the air and knocked down a comebacker with his bare hand, although catcher Jason Kendall didn't think Harden looked right all game."Dan Haren got his first win of the 2006 season. He worked eight strong innings, gave up two solo HRs in "sloppy" conditions.

For awhile, it was suspenseful whether they'd get through 5 innings after Ellis's blast. Luckily, the rain temporarily stopped.
Got to give Billy Beane credit. The Royals starting lineup last night was older than the A's. Yet the Royals are going nowhere and we think the A's are contenders.
BTW, note that even the threat in this blog of raging on Ellis produced a homer, a double and 4 rbis in this game. Who can we threaten next? Payton? :)

I thought my ragging on Loaiza would improve things, but maybe this doesn't work with pitchers.
