Game #92: A's 0, Red Sox 7
July 15, 2006 | A's @ Boston
Tuned in just in time to see Dan Haren's nightmare bottom of the third inning, when the Bosox score four runs with only one out. Rats. And it only got worse from there. The shutout is the first for the Red Sox this season!
(Game experience: Some TV)
A's record: 47-44 | streak: L-1 | well-A-meter: 2

Why does the dateline for the July 15 game against Bostone say "May 17, 2006 | A's vs.@ Seattle"?
The one thing that I'll remember about today's game is how Curt Schilling was allowed to bean Nick Swisher in the 6th inning with full impunity. It was no doubt payback for Haren hitting Varitek in the 5th inning. But the umpires still should have issued a warning.
I fixed the dateline. It was leftover from my template. :-)
One more thing. I dislike the Red Sox. I don't like Varitek, Manny Ramirez, the Big Papi, et al. Even Jonathan Papelbon I don't like. Put on a Red Sox uniform or a bloody sock and I don't like you.
Oooooh ... Wella ... save some of that vitriol for the Yankees. The Red Sox are Johnny-come-latelies to the "I hate this team" league. It does seem, though, that going back to 2000 and coming forward that every year the Red Sox have played a pivotal role in the A's fortunes.
Back in the day (late 80's, early 90's), the A's OWNED the Red Sox. Oakland SWEPT Boston in 1988 and 1990 ALCS. The 1990 ALCS was especially memorable because Roger Clemens was ejected early in Game 4 for arguing balls and strikes. Clemens always faced Dave Stewart in the ALCS and Stewart out pitched the Rocket every time. Clemens' outburst and ejection was a reaction of knowing that he couldn't beat Stewart.
