Game #139: A's 9, Rangers 6
September 6, 2006 | A's vs. Texas
The day after... I got a loaner laptop at work and a new one will be issued to me. I spent chunks of my afternoon in meetings and retrieving my backed-up data. So I didn't find out about the game until the evening.
- Mark Kotsay two-for-four, four RBI, zowee! I read about how he's playing through his back pain because this is his first time in nine years in the bigs to get a good shot at the post-season. I forgot that since Kotsay's been an Athletic, we have NOT gone to the playoffs.
- Frank Thomas homers again! I must say, I was deeply impressed by his electrifying performance yesterday. He really brought both the A's and the fans back to life at the Coliseum last night. I'm glad he's on our team.
- Joe Blanton gets win #15.
- Justin Duchscherer racks up another save. I'm liking him as a closer! We don't have to rush about bringing Five A Rent-a-Space spokesperson Huston Street back. Though he will be available, according to reports, on Friday.
- The Texas bats were good, but the A's were better. The fact that the Rangers have several .300 hitters and the A's don't make victories like this more satisfying.

(Game experience: None)
A's record: 80-59 | streak: W-1 | magic number: 18 | well-A-meter: 5.00

I'm very happy to see the well-A-meter is still maxing out at 5.00! =)
Depends what color he's wearing. ;)
I'm strangely calm about losing my car. Maybe I'm still in shock.
The Oakland PD said I have an 80% chance that my car will be recovered. However, it's a 100% chance that it will be stripped. They didn't give me numbers on whether I'll be able to get the contents of my car back. Some things are irreplacable, including a journal with some notes that -- taken out of context -- could be TRULY embarrassing. And I also had a notebook in there where I logged 10 years' worth of oil changes and other car maintenance events which has some sentimental value only to me.
I'm probably going to blog about my car and my dealings with insurance companies in one of my other blogs A Consumer Retorts.
Hey, Wella, didn't find out your car had been stolen until just now! Eek! Maybe you'll be lucky like I was with my Acura Integra. Mine was recovered less than a week later with nothing taken. Just some damage to the dashboard and steering column from where they had to smash it to get to the ignition. They didn't even take the BBQ grill from the back!
I dunno, no. 19, my car was stolen from the dicey side streets outside the Oakland Coliseum. I don't think these were Alameda joyriders. :-)
Please mention the theft to Brian. We've always asked about each other's cars. I can't believe he's going to have his longer than I had mine...
And to think, while my car was being stolen, the A's lost and I did NOT get a Frank Thomas bobblehead!
